Fisher Island

 

Take a quick ferry ride out of Miami and you’ll find yourself arriving at the exclusive and serene Fisher Island. This 216-acre tropical oasis was once the home of automobile pioneer Carl G. Fisher, who made the island his personal home. However, in the 1960s, the island was sold to developers who decided to maintain exclusivity and build a luxurious, one-of-a-kind residential community.

 

Nowadays, approximately 800 families live on the island, which is only accessible by the 24-hour ferry, private boat or helicopter. The majority of the homes are comprised of apartments and condominiums built in Spanish Colonial style. However, there are a few single-family mansions spread out throughout the island as well. In addition to the remarkable building layouts and stunning views, the residents of this exclusive island can enjoy some of the most deluxe amenities around.

Due to the many families with children living on the island, residents agreed to build a private school for their youngsters so that they won’t have to leave the island.
